3D bioprinting of vascularized adipose tissue: patient-derived ECM and innovative fiber materials to promote microvascularization

Description

The successful treatment of soft tissue defects as a result of e.g. congenital deformities, tumor resection or trauma continues to pose a challenge in the clinic. The main problems are due to insufficient vascularization of natural grafts/implants. The aim of the project is the reproducible production of pre-vascularized adipose tissue constructs for the successful treatment of soft tissue defects and improved nutrient and oxygen supply to the inserted cells. For this purpose, modern 3D bioprinting techniques and novel personalized bioinks are used to provide guiding structures to which the autologous donor cells align themselves and thus form a functional and stable blood vessel system, which enables optimal preservation of the viability of the construct.
