We research and develop porous materials with tailored properties.
Understanding the unique properties and behavior of porous materials, such as foams, is crucial for developing and optimizing their applications in various industries. These range from the cosmetics to the food industry, from medical technology to aerospace.
We are particularly interested in the structure-property relationships of liquid and solid foams, since the macroscopic properties are strongly determined by their microstructure, such as pore size and pore geometry, web geometry and microstructure of the webs, degree of crosslinking/process, and also a possible coating.
The focus of our work here is primarily on biomaterials and the uptake of active ingredients, as well as their controlled release.
