Teresa Wagner receives Gips-Schüle Young Talent Award

Award for NMI scientist Dr. Teresa Wagner: she receives the Gips-Schüle Foundation's Young Scientist Award, endowed with 10,000 euros, in the life sciences category. She is being honored for her research on immunotherapies for cancer.

She has developed a new diagnostic method with which immunotherapies can be monitored in real time. Until now, success or failure could only be assessed after months of treatment. This places a psychological burden on patients and is often associated with considerable side effects. The aim of her research was to predict more quickly whether immunotherapies will work in cancer patients. She uses a so-called immune checkpoint protein (SIRPα) for this purpose.

Teresa Wagner has been working at the NMI since February 1, 2020. Since February 2023, she has headed the Revelice ImmuneAdvice project, which prepared the spin-off of immuneAdvice GmbH. The company, founded in summer 2024, builds on the results of her research.

Congratulations, Teresa Wagner!
