CDU top candidate at the NMI

The chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the Baden-Württemberg state parliament, Manuel Hagel MdL, paid a familiarization visit to the NMI today. Director Prof. Dr. Katja Schenke-Layland introduced him to the institute with its entire range of application-oriented research, from medical issues to nanoanalytics and sustainability topics. She placed particular emphasis on the NMI's services for small and medium-sized enterprises. The meeting therefore also included a tour of the NMI's Nanoanalytics Center (NanoZ), whose high-precision equipment is used both for the NMI's own research and for services.

The state CDU's top candidate was impressed: "The NMI is an inspiring place! Not only is research being carried out here, the future is being made here - in the heart of Baden-Württemberg. The projects in the field of nanotechnology are real milestones that show how science can change our lives. Whether in medicine, technology or industry - what is being created here has the potential to set standards worldwide," says Manuel Hagel. "It's impressive to see how much passion and innovative power is at work here. Places like this make our country strong and I am grateful that I was able to take a look behind the scenes today."

Katja Schenke-Layland also drew a positive conclusion from the meeting. “Many thanks to Manuel Hagel for the very open, interested exchange about our work and also for his open ear with regard to the challenges facing institutes like the NMI,” said the NMI Director. "Our aim is to create innovations, both in our own research and in cooperation with companies. Support from politics is very valuable for this."

Manuel Hagel was accompanied by CDU state parliament candidates Dr. Maximilian Menton (Reutlingen), Diana Arnold (Tübingen) and Maren Steege (Nürtingen) as well as Dr. Alexander Becker MdL and Michael Donth MdB.
