Award for NMI alumna
Explaining complex science in a generally understandable way is a real challenge - NMI alumna Dr. Anna-Lena Keller has this ability. For her article "Klein, aber oho: Mini-Organe mit Maxi-Wirkung", she has therefore been awarded the KlarText Prize for Science Communication 2024! Congratulations from the NMI!
In her article, she describes how normal body cells can first be transformed into stem cells. In a second step, these can develop into organoids ("mini-organs") that share many properties with real organs. This helps in cancer research, for example.
The KlarText Prize for Science Communication has been awarded by the Klaus Tschira Foundation since 1997. The foundation honors scientists who describe their work to a non-scientific audience. Prizes are awarded for texts in the fields of biology, chemistry, computer science, geosciences, mathematics, neurosciences and physics. There is also a prize for the best infographic.
Anna-Lena Keller receives her prize in the field of biology. The award ceremony is on October 10, 2024.
