Farewell colloquium for Thomas Joos

Dr. Thomas Joos spent more than 27 years at the NMI and left his mark on the institute: as a scientist, as deputy director and as a person. Now he is actually retiring, but of course his colleagues, companions and partners didn't want to let him go quietly. That's why there was a surprise colloquium yesterday to say goodbye.

Colleagues from different corners of Europe made their way to Reutlingen. In their reviews of their time together, which often began with a doctorate, one motif came up again and again: the freedom that Thomas Joos gave the young academics. And of course there was also room for the odd anecdote in the presentations.

The closing words of the day (at least before the barbecue) were of course given by Thomas Joos. His two most important messages: Thanks to his wife Uta and pride in “his” doctoral students and their successful careers.

We wish Thomas Joos all the best for the future and are delighted that he will remain with the Institute for a while longer with his knowledge and personality!
