Weightless medicine? NMI presents itself at space startup
The NMI in space? Well, it's not quite there yet. But the NMI's expertise in the field of microphysiological research and organ-on-chip solutions is arousing interest in research collaborations in weightlessness. And so the NMI, represented by Simon Werner, was able to present itself during a high-profile company visit to Atmos Spacecargo GmbH in Lichtenau, Baden. Among others, State Secretary Patrick Rapp and Cornelia von Loga MdL were also present.
The profound effect of the absence of gravity on the human body has become increasingly important in recent years, not only in space medicine, but also in the development of disease models for pharmaceutical research. The diverse expertise required for this type of research is available in Baden-Württemberg: with companies such as Atmos and Yurigravity - and at the NMI.
