Promotion of the RegioWIN lighthouse project CO2FaX2
Today's symbolic handover of the funding check is the official starting signal for the "CO2FaX2" lighthouse project. It is the tenth project from the RegioWIN2030 competition to be approved by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and, alongside the "BioDevCenter", the second project to be implemented by the NMI Natural and Medical Sciences Institute in Reutlingen together with other research partners and companies.
The aim of the project is to research and develop carbon dioxide-binding wall paints and varnishes. In phase one, carbon dioxide (CO2) is to be actively absorbed from the atmosphere, for example through paint on building walls and car paint surfaces. In phase two, a decentralized household concept is to be researched in which CO2 is converted into energy sources using chemical and/or biotechnological catalytic processes. Ultimately, this will result in pilot plants for the energetic use of CO2 in individual households.
