Farewell colloquium for Hansjürgen Volkmer

For 26 years, apl. Prof. Hansjürgen Volkmer has shaped the NMI with his work. Since 1998, he has built up research in molecular biology at the institute and accompanied the development towards neurobiology. Most recently, he was Co-Head of the Pharma and Biotech Division. Hansjürgen Volkmer retired today with a colloquium.

Colleagues from the NMI as well as companions from other institutions came to Reutlingen. These included Prof. Andreas Fallgatter from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tübingen and Prof. Gal Richter Levin from the University of Haifa. In their presentations, they looked back on their joint research with Hansjürgen Volkmer. His mentor from his postdoc days, Prof. Fritz Rathjen, had also come to Reutlingen especially for the event.

At the end, NMI Director Prof. Katja Schenke-Layland and Volkmer's colleague in the division management, Dr. Nicole Schneiderhan-Marra, presented him with a gift basket on behalf of the institute with suggestions on how to fill his retirement. However, it is clear that Hansjürgen Volkmer will not retire completely from science immediately. A few tasks still need to be completed.

The NMI wishes Hansjürgen Volkmer all the best for his new phase of life!
