Science & Innovations Days 2024

This year's theme is: arguing better. Let's work on it together.

From 15 to 18 November 2024, the University of Tübingen and several partner organizations are hosting the Science & Innovation Days public science festival.

Differences of opinion, polarization or even agitation and hatred are often perceived as current drivers of social discourse. Too much conflict destroys relationships and communities - but conflict is necessary for development and change. A democracy without (competitive) dispute is not a democracy. The phenomenon of conflict can be approached from very different angles. When does conflict have a negative impact on individual well-being and social structures? How does mediation work? How does evolutionary competition promote adaptation and further development? What happens in the human brain when we argue? The aim is to develop a constructive culture of conflict. What can science contribute to this?

Dr. Christian Schmees (Group Leader Tumor Biology at the NMI) and Dr. Silke Riegger (3R-Center) will each have a stand on site.
