Quantum Technologies and Photonics meets Medtech

Quantum technologies are about to revolutionize many areas of the healthcare industry. They allow deeper insights into biological processes and thus lead to more precise and faster diagnoses, which in turn enables better tailored therapy.

One example of an application is in the diagnosis of cancer, where it makes it possible to quickly and reliably classify diseased and healthy tissue, which allows for customized therapy. In the identification of tissue, Raman and fluorescence spectroscopy now also offer real-time detection, which can be further improved by using quantum effects. Furthermore, quantum sensor technology enables a spatially resolved representation of brain and heart currents thanks to the measurement of the smallest magnetic fields.
