After completing his PhD at Saarland University in 2012, he went to Berkeley, CA, USA, for three years as a postdoc. He then spent 5 years as Attract group leader at Fraunhofer IGB, Stuttgart before joining the NMI in 2021 and has been group leader of the Organ-on-Chip group since then. His research interests include organ-on-chip, tissue engineering, and microfabrication.
