After completing his PhD at the University of Freiburg / Kaiserslautern in 2000, he joined the NMI in 2007 and started as an assistant group leader. Since 2016 he is group leader of the electrophysiology group. His research interests include neurobiology/toxicology, cardiac physiology/safety pharmacology, and the islets of Langerhans.
