Prof. Dr. Katja Schenke-Layland: 20 years from the Klee Prize to the Keynote
A special moment: Prof. Dr. Katja Schenke-Layland, Director at the NMI, gave the keynote speech today at the BMT 58th VDE DGBMT Annual Conference on Biomedical Engineering in Stuttgart.
Exactly 20 years ago, she was the first woman to receive the sponsorship award from the Klee family foundation for her innovative research on heart valves “Complete dynamic repopulation of decellularized heart valves by application of defined physical signals - an in vitro study”.
From prizewinner to keynote speaker - an impressive journey that shows how pioneering work and scientific excellence pay off!
