Intra-BLA alteration of interneurons’ modulation of activity in rats, reveals a dissociation between effects on anxiety symptoms and extinction learning

The researchers have succeeded in demonstrating the influence of a brain region responsible for emotions, the amygdala, on the manifestation of anxiety symptoms by specifically altering the communication between nerve cells.

Selective knockdown of GABAA-α2 subunit in the dorsal dentate gyrus in adulthood induces anxiety, learning and memory deficits and impairs synaptic plasticity

Animal studies and clinical trials suggest that maintenance of gammaaminobutyric acid (GABA)-ergic activity may be crucial in coping with stressful conditions, anxiety and mood disorders. Drugs highly efficient in promoting anxiolysis were shown to activate this system, particularly via the α2-subunit of type A receptors (GABAA α2).

Temperature-dependence of beam-driven dynamics in graphene-fullerene sandwiches

 

C60 fullerenes encapsulated between graphene sheets were investigated by aberration-corrected high-resolution transmission electron microscopy at different temperatures, namely about 93 K, 293 K and 733 K, and by molecular dynamics simulations. Breast cancer-on-chip for patient-specific efficacy and safety testing of CAR-T cells

Physiologically relevant human models that recapitulate the challenges of solid tumors and the tumor microenvironment are highly desired in the chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell field. We developed a breast cancer-on-chip model with an integrated endothelial barrier that enables the transmigration of perfused immune cells, their infiltration into the tumor, and concomitant monitoring of cytokine release during perfused culture.
