Katja Schenke-Layland on delegation trip with Minister President Winfried Kretschmann

The focus of the week-long delegation trip to the United States of America was on exchanges with leading representatives from politics, research and business on the topics of the healthcare industry, mobility and transatlantic dialogue, as well as on deepening cooperation and strengthening networks.

The trip will be accompanied by a high-ranking delegation of more than 100 participants, including Prof. Katja Schenke-Layland, Director of the NMI, at the invitation of the Minister President.

The political delegation is represented by the Minister of Economy, Labor and Tourism Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, the Minister of Science, Research and the Arts Petra Olschowski, the Minister of Finance Dr. Danyal Bayaz, the Minister of Transport Winfried Hermann, and the Minister of State in the Ministry of State Dr. Florian Stegmann. In addition, representatives of the economy, university medicine, as well as universities and science and research institutions were part of the delegation.

Starting on October 02, 2022, the trip for the delegation "AI, eHealth and MedTec", of which Prof. Katja Schenke-Layland was also a member, first led to Pittsburgh for discussions around the topic "BW meets Pittsburgh - A common perspective for the application of AI in the automotive and healthcare sector". This provided an opportunity to meet startups such as LifeX Labs. In the next step, the delegation traveled to Los Angeles, where they visited the UCLA campus, among other places, and held further interesting technical discussions around the topics of Policy Research, Commercialization & Growth Strategy.
