Numerous diseases of great economic and social importance rely on a dysfunctional immune system. The diversity of these diseases and of the individual immune response require innovative diagnostics for improved individual health care. The project includes samples from different indications. For the development of innovative, diagnostic tools for personalized medicine, the project integrates micro systems technology, high-sensitivity protein diagnostics, molecular imaging, and cellular model systems. Leading participants are institutes of the InnBW.
NMI contributes to this project high-sensitivity protein analytics for the detection of inflammatory components in serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Patient-derived brain organoids will be used, to compare inflammatory mechanisms with serological/CSF data and to establish a novel drug testing platform. Finally, nanobodies will be developed, to monitor inflammatory processes in patients with the help of whole body imaging.
