Text:
The aim of the project is to develop a process and plant technology for the tailor-made molecular surface structuring of catheters that creates a super-hydrophilic (water-loving) surface, whereby neither bacteria nor blood proteins (as possible starting points for bacterial colonisation) can settle.

The primary exploitation goal is the use of the technology for the production and distribution of hemodialysis catheters with an antibacterial, protein-repellent surface. Here alone, additional sales of > € 1 million p. a. are realistic. In a second step, the use can be extended to other types of central venous catheters. In the future, the use for other medical products, e.g. made of silicone, is also possible.
