Hilde Mangold Award 2021 to Katja Schenke-Layland - Congratulations to all German Stem Cell Network GSCN Award winners!

On 7th of October, outstanding achievements by scientists in stem cell research were honoured at the 9th GSCN conference in Dresden. The field of stem cell research deals with the development of fertilised oocytes up to the embryo - not all processes are fully understood yet. In addition to insights into developmental biology, it is also hoped to gain a better understanding of the development of diseases.

With her scientific work, Prof. Dr. Katja Schenke-Layland has made a significant contribution to a better understanding in the research field of tissue engineering, the cultivation of tissue from stem cells. For these outstanding research achievements and her extraordinary professional career to date, she has now received the Hilde Mangold Award 2021. The award was handed over to her by Prof. Dr. Schöler, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Münster.

The "GSCN 2021 Young Investigator Award" was presented to Prof. Dr. Elvira Mass. Katharina Scheibner was awarded the "GSCN 2021 Publication of the Year Award" for her publication "Epithelial cell plasticity drives endoderm formation during gastrulation".
