Material tests

The NMI is certified according to DIN EN ISO / IEC 17025:2005 to perform tests on organic and inorganic surfaces using spectroscopic and electron microscopic methods. It is also permitted to perform selected electrochemical tests in aqueous solutions and micro and nano hardness tests on materials.

The following methods are used:

  • Measurement of the potential equilibrium of metallic materials in aqueous solutions
  • Cyclic voltametry and chronoamperometry of metallic materials in aqueous solutions
  • Potentiometric determination of the pH value in aqueous solutions
  • Polarographic analysis of nickel ions in aqueous solutions
  • SEM/EDX for organic and inorganic solid surfaces and internal interfaces
  • SNMS for the surfaces, thin layers and bulk material of solids (metals, semiconductors, alloys, glass and ceramics)
  • XPS and SIMS for solid surfaces (metals, semiconductors, alloys, glass and ceramics)
  • FTIR for infrared-active organic and inorganic solid surfaces and internal interfaces
  • Micro and nano hardness tests of metallic and non-metallic materials
