Opportunity for a PhD student at the NMI in cooperation with CeGaT GmbH

The NMI at the University of Tübingen, a research institute of the “Innovationsallianz Baden-Württemberg”, conducts applied research at the interface of Life and Material Sciences. The Department of Molecular Biology develops cellular test systems for research and industrial applications.

CeGaT is a leading global provider of genetic diagnostics and mutation-related disease analyses. Since 2009, CeGaT has helped physicians, researchers and patients decode genetic information to  provide fast, detailed and reliable medical interpretations. CeGaT's interdisciplinary team of scientists strives to offer a comprehensive service in all areas of genetic diagnostics, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies.
In order to expand our innovative, high-quality services in the field of sequencing, we are constantly on the lookout for motivated and talented new colleagues.

For the joined research project „Systemimmunologie an biologisch-technischen Grenzflächen“, a position is open for a

PhD student with a background in immunology and cell biology

Knowledge and experiences are expected in several fields, such as

  • Bioinformatical and statistical analysis of next generation sequencing data sets
  • Cell culture and cellular assays (qRT-PCR, ELISA, Western blot, etc)

Experience in the application of CRISPR/Cas9 technology would also be welcome.

The project aims at identifying unique individual genetic variations which determine adverse reactions to artificial materials (e.g. implants) the body comes into contact with.
